August 25, 2024 50 Years: Generosity

Written by Communications

Over the last 50 years, we have seen how the Lord has not only grown East Cooper in size but also in generosity. In 1992, Buster wrote a letter to the members of East Cooper with a vision and goal to collect $275,000 to buy and renovate a new building to hold the growing congregation. He shared,

“A challenge awaits us. The challenge of reaching more people with the glorious news of Jesus Christ. The challenge of a growing church in a growing area. We must have a 'dream' or 'vision' to meet the challenge. The biblical proverb holds true: ‘Where there is no vision, the people perish.’”

Since then, East Cooper relocated to a new home on Egypt Road. In an effort to continue this goal of reaching people with the gospel and growing a culture of generosity within our church family, we set a goal to eliminate East Cooper’s debt several years ago. Thanks to the generosity of our people, we celebrated becoming a debt-free church in 2023. This frees up and reallocates finances towards Great Commission endeavors, including global, local, and discipleship ministries.
